Our Beginnings
We all started due to a thought. A thought that someday I would like to have my children participate in 4H with livestock. I told my Mom that I didn't know if I would enjoy doing the livestock that you auction off to be butchered though. I have a very soft heart and although I eat meat and am totally ok with that, I just know that I would fall in love with the animals and not be able to let go. I figured it wouldn't be very good if the Mom was on the sidelines crying.
Mom mentioned us getting Alpacas. At that point in time, while I knew what alpacas were, I didn't know a thing about them. Together we started researching them, and over the next few months we decided to go with it. We started putting up fences and the sort in April of 2010. We purchased our first eight male alpacas in June of 2010. In July we added seven more alpacas and a llama. We are absolutely enjoying them and have so much fun just going out and spending time with the boys.
As of July 2012, we now have six males including one breeding male, four yearlings, and a brand new cria June 2012. We have nine females and we are expecting quite a few babies 2013.
We still absolutely love having the alpacas and really enjoy spending time with them and watching them be alpacas.
